December 24, (THEWILL) – Richarlison may be out of the Tottenham Hotspur squad for up to four weeks with a hamstring injury, according to manager Antonio Conte.
The 25-year-old, whose spectacular bicycle kick against Serbia earned him the tournament’s best goal, sustained the injury while featuring for Brazil in the World Cup quarter-final match against Croatia.
Richarlison, who had three goals in Qatar, was unable to participate in the ensuing penalty shootout, which the Selecao lost as Brazil was subsequently eliminated from the competition.
In a post-match presser, Conte said of Richarlison’s return: “I spoke with the medical department. They said to me we need three or four weeks still.”
Richarlison will undoubtedly miss Spurs’ return to Premier League play against Brentford on Boxing Day and their matchup with Aston Villa on New Year’s Day due to this timeframe. Spurs will be hoping for his quick recovery as the team plays Arsenal at home on January 15 and Manchester City away four days later.
