April 4, (THEWILL)- The Group under the aegis of Concerned Benue Peoples Democratic Party Stakeholders have adopted Senator Gabriel Suswam as its sole national Chairmanship candidate in the forthcoming National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja.
In a voice vote conducted by former Speaker Protempo, Rt. Honoable Terngu Tsegba, during it meeting held at Holidays Hotel, Makurdi on Thursday, the meeting described Senator Gabriel Suswam as a stabiliser with the capacity to enshrine discipline, growth, peace and order in the polity.
In his remarks, the Zonal NNational Secretary of the PDP, North Central, Hon. Maurice Tsav, noted that the major concern for them at the helm of affairs of the party is that, the zone must not be short changed.
“When Alhaji Bamaga Tukur in the northeast could not complete his term as national Chairman, other north Easterners like former governor Muazu Adamu and Alhaji Sherrif were brought in to serve out the North Eastern tenure”.
According to Honorable Tsav, the National Woman leader, Prof. Etoe from the south – south passed on, and another person from that zone has replaced her.
He noted that for equity, fairness and justice and in line with the party’s constitution, north Central be allowed to complete its tenure as National Chairman of the party.
In their separate speeches, the leader of G-14, Dr Laha Dzever, said PDP must recover the lost ground in Benue state and at the national level.
He assured that elders of the PDP in the state will go everywhere to convey the feelings of Benue people on Suswam to appropriate quarters.
The leader of G-9, Dr Mike Iduma noted that it is just and right to fill the vacancy created by the decision of the Court, assuring the Benue South members of the PDP are solidly behind Suswam’s ambition.
Doctor Paul Orhii who spoke on behalf of the 2023 governorship aspirants in the state, noted that they have endorsed Suswam’s ambition due to this political experience and commitment to the party since 1999, while This Abba for the business class call for the presentation of senator Suswam to the Zonal PDP leaders.
Other endorsers including women, youths, former assembly members on the platform of the PDP, and the wife of the former PDP governorship candidate in the state, Mrs Pauline Titus Uba, all throw their weight behind Suswam’s ambition to clinch the seat come April 18.
Earlier, the convener of the meeting, Dr Paul Ubwa, decided to call for the meeting to present Gabriel Suswam before stakeholders for consideration as the national championship aspirant due to his steering leadership qualities that span both the legislative and executive arms of government and party management in the past.
