Colombian Midfielder Rodriguez Joins Brazilian Serie A Club Sao Paulo

July 30, (THEWILL) – Colombian midfielder James Rodriguez has completed a move to Sao Paulo, signing a two-year contract with the Brazilian Serie A club.

After his release from Olympiakos Piraeus in April, the 32-year-old player embarked on a journey through several clubs in the last four seasons. He spent a season at Everton in 2021 before being sold to Qatari side Al-Rayyan and then joining Olympiakos on a free transfer last term. Remarkably, Rodriguez has represented ten professional clubs in ten different countries since starting his career at Colombia’s Envigado in 2006.

Rodriguez has played for prominent European clubs such as Porto, Monaco, and Real Madrid throughout his illustrious career. Notably, he achieved remarkable milestones, winning the Golden Boot at the 2014 World Cup with six goals during the tournament. His time at Real Madrid saw him claim two UEFA Champions League titles and two La Liga titles.

Additionally, Rodriguez lifted the UEFA Europa League trophy while at Porto. During a two-year loan spell at Bayern Munich from 2017 to 2019, he further clinched two Bundesliga crowns and the German Cup.

The addition of James Rodriguez to Sao Paulo’s roster brings a wealth of experience and skill to the team. The Colombian now embarks on a new chapter in his career, aiming to demonstrate his football talent once again and contribute to Sao Paulo’s success on the pitch.
