October 5, (THEWILL) – Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen has sprained an ankle, according to the Catalan side and he joins Ronald Araujo, Jules Kounde, and other players on the sidelines.
A club statement read: “Tests carried out on Wednesday have confirmed that the first team player Andreas Christensen has a sprained left ankle. He is unavailable and his recovery will dictate his return.”
Barca will be without the Danish defender for the Inter Milan match at Camp Nou and possibly even the Clasico in addition to the match against Celta Vigo on Sunday.
At the moment, Xavi Hernandez will make do with a threadbare lineup in defence as the only available centre-backs for Barcelona are Eric Garcia and Gerard Pique, who featured as a substitute in the controversial 1-0 loss to Inter in Tuesday’s UCL game.
