November 05, (THEWILL) – In a dramatic 3-2 victory over Hertha Berlin on Saturday, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting netted a brace as Bayern Munich climbed to the top of the Bundesliga standings.
After Jamal Musiala’s initial goal, Choupo-Moting scored twice in as many first-half minutes, but Hertha fought back into the game in a remarkable first half.
Dodi Lukebakio and Davie Selke scored for the hosts, the latter from the penalty spot, to revive the game before half-time, although Hertha never came close to tying the score in the comparatively quiet second half.
As a result, Julian Nagelsmann’s team won their fourth straight Bundesliga match, pulling two points clear of Union Berlin before the Iron Ones take to the road in a Sunday trip to Bayer Leverkusen to try and leapfrog Bayern again to the top.
The result means Hertha maintains their position in 14th place, two points above the danger zone of relegation. On Tuesday, they will travel to Stuttgart while Bayern welcomes Werder Bremen to the Allianz Arena that same day.
