Chijioke Penalty Seals Narrow Enyimba Victory Over Kwara United

November 05, (THEWILL) – Enyimba claimed a hard-fought 1-0 win against Kwara United today after a tense match was settled by a last minute penalty in the first half.

Michael Chijioke kept his composure to convert from the spot to give Enyimba all three points. It was the highlight of an uneventful opening 40 minutes, with both sides struggling to create openings. Chances were few and far between as the midfields cancelled each other out.

Just as it looked like the teams would go into half-time goalless, the referee awarded a penalty to Enyimba in the 3rd minute of stoppage time. Chijioke stepped up and slotted the ball into the bottom corner to give Enyimba a 1-0 lead at the break.

The second half saw Kwara United strive for an equaliser but the Enyimba defense held firm. The visitors pushed forward in numbers but struggled to break down a resolute backline. Enyimba had chances to extend their lead on the counter attack but were wasteful in the final third.

Defeat leaves Kwara in seventh after a second league loss in three matches. Enyimba showed great spirit to dig out the win while Kwara will feel hard done by. Chijioke though will deservedly take the plaudits for scoring the decisive goal from the spot.
