June 20, (THEWILL) – Chelsea had been waiting for their takeover to be finished for a long time before they could begin their summer transfer moves. With that behind them now, they are set to attack the transfer business with a vengeance.
Due to the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, as well as the reported exit plans around Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso, the Blues will require a number of new defenders of the same calibre. Then, there is also Romelu Lukaku’s processing loan return to Inter Milan. With the loan package worked out, Chelsea will have officially begun their summer business.
The Blues had initially considered a permanent deal and tried to include Inter duo Milan Skriniar and Denzel Dumfries in the Lukaku transfer, but it turns out only a loan could be agreed on.
Even though Chelsea’s new owner, Ted Boehly, initially cautioned fans of the Stamford Bridge club to not expect a lot of big-money transfer deals in this window, the club is aware of the reinforcements taking place in the competition, especially the arrivals of Erling Haaland in Manchester City and Darwin Nunez in Liverpool and they know they need to be just as competitive next season.
Chelsea have shown renewed interest in Raheem Sterling, who is valued at £55 million by City. Thomas Tuchel’s side is also interested in Ousmane Dembele, Robert Lewandowski, Christopher Nkunku, Jules Kounde, Nathan Ake, Josko Gvardiol, Presnel Kimpembe, Marc Cucurella, Rayan Ait-Nouri, and Sergio Dest, as they begin their summer business.
