October 08, (THEWILL) – In Graham Potter’s first home league game as manager, Chelsea defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0 at Stamford Bridge with Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic, and Armando Broja, providing the goals and Kepa Arrizabalega keeping a clean sheet.
An altered Chelsea side dominated the first 45 minutes before Havertz headed in Mason Mount’s cross in first-half injury time to give Chelsea the lead.
Chelsea defeated Wolves for the first time after four attempts thanks to a late goal from substitute, Broja, after Mount had a significant role in the second when he played in Pulisic to dink over Jose Sa.
After seven substitutions and an important first home league victory, Potter moves the Blues up to fourth. Chelsea’s next game is a UEFA Champions League match against Milan, and then they play Aston Villa the following Sunday. Before that, on Saturday, Wolves will host Nottingham Forest.
