Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said he expects to be among the first politicians targeted if President Bola Tinubu loses the 2027 presidential election, declaring that he has staked his political future on ensuring the President secures a second term.

Presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has hosted his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and other candidates of the party at the Obidient Headquarters in Abuja, as the party intensifies efforts to expand its political reach ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Wike disclosed on Wednesday during a media parley in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, while responding to claims that he supported Adeleke during the Osun governorship election.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, made the allegations in a statement in which he described recent reports attributed to a Washington-based consultant as politically motivated claims being packaged as sensitive United States intelligence.

Marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1888/2026, the suit was instituted by former Vice President and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, with the ADC joined as the second plaintiff.

Obi made the declaration in his Independence Day message titled “Nigeria at 66: Looking Back, Looking Forward”, in which he acknowledged the country’s abundant human and natural resources and paid tribute to its founding fathers and past leaders who, he said, sacrificed to build the nation.

The development followed allegations by the NDC that candidates it duly nominated were removed and replaced with individuals the party said were unknown to the organisation and had neither been nominated nor authorised to contest under its platform.

Kefas, who spoke while addressing Taraba citizens on Friday to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the creation of the state, said his move to the APC should not be interpreted as a betrayal of the people who elected him or an abandonment of the principles on which he assumed office.

The Federal Government has told Nigerians living in Angola that President Bola Tinubu is determined to fix the country’s security and economic challenges, assuring the Diaspora community that insecurity would not derail the administration’s efforts to reposition Nigeria.

The proposal was contained in opening remarks delivered on behalf of the G100 by Mallam Salihu Moh. Lukman at the Summit of Nigeria's Opposition Political Parties held on Monday at the Shehu Musa Yar'Adua Centre, Abuja.
