CAF Raises The Alarm Over Fake Email, Threatens Legal Action Against Suspected Fraudsters

SAN FRANCISCO, December 03, (THEWILL) – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has notified the public of a fake email purportedly from the highest office of the continental football governing body in circulation.

The email, which was sent from what CAF described as “a fake email address”, claims to be from the Federation’s current Acting President, Congolese football administrator Constant Omari, and addressed to “Presidents of Federations and Mr. Omari’s friends”.

While warning the public to be vigilant and avoid falling victims to the wiles of these fraudsters, CAF expressly noted that such acts grossly violated Omari’s name for criminal purposes.

As a consequence, the Federation has “asked their legal advisers to consider all the necessary measures to identify and take all the necessary actions against the perpetrators of this crime.”

The statement from CAF read:

“It has been brought to the attention of the Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF) that a fake email address, attributed to Acting President Mr. Constant Omari, is sending messages to Presidents of Federations and Mr. Omari’s friends.

“These fraudsters use the address [email protected] and the number +243 979582632. This is a gross violation of the name of a prominent figure for criminal purposes.

“The Confederation Africane de Football (CAF) and President Omari have asked their legal advisers to consider all the necessary measures to identify and take all the necessary actions against the perpetrators of this crime.

“In the meantime, CAF urges all stakeholders to be extra vigilant.”
