Bye-Election: Nursing Mother Raises Alarm Over Husband’s Arrest By Army

February 03, (THEWILL) – A nursing mother, Inya Ken, has raised the alarm over the whereabouts of her husband, who was tortured and arrested by the Nigerian army during the ongoing bye-election at Eke market in Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

She spoke to journalists on election monitoring, saying despite her plea, the army neither released her husband nor stated his offence.

According to her, she did not know the whereabouts of her husband.

“During the election, I had already voted and went home, I got a call that my husband had been arrested by the army and when I came out, I saw that it was my husband sitting under the sun.

“I met him and asked him what he did, he said he did not do anything, that he was just sitting with other voters and someone pointed at him and said look at him and arrest him.

“We came out to plead with them to release him because they were not able to tell us his offence. Right now, we do not know where they have taken him to.

“He is not with his phone and I do not know if they going to torture him more. He was arrested at the Eke market polling unit. I have a baby. I am a nursing mother”, he said.
