August 09, (THEWILL) – MTV has unveiled its nomination list ahead of the Video Music Award, VMA, taking place in September.
A new category, ‘Best Afrobeats’, has just been introduced and top Nigerian artistes such as Ebunoluwa Damini, aka Burna Boy; Divine Ikubor, also known as Rema; David Adeleke, aka, Davido; Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, professionally known as Ayra Starr; Ayodeji Balogun, better known as Wizkid; and some other artistes, bagged nomination in the category.
Rema was also nominated for two other awards, ‘Best Collaboration’ and ‘Song of the Year’.
Taylor Swift led the nomination list with eight nominations while SZA secured six nominations. Doja Cat, Kim Petras, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo, and Sam Smith earned five each.
