September 04, (THEWILL) – Victor Boniface’s stunning solo goal for Bayer Leverkusen against Darmstadt has been voted one of the top five strikes in the Bundesliga this weekend.
The 22-year-old summer signing netted twice as Leverkusen cruised to a 5-1 victory over the newly promoted visitors. It was his second brace in successive matches, as the forward builds a frightening attacking disposition in the Bundesliga.
However, it was Boniface’s sublime first goal that really caught the eye. After Darmstadt lost the ball from a corner, he picked up possession and embarked on a jinking run past two defenders before cleverly placing the ball beyond the goalkeeper.
Boniface grabbed his second of the game in the second half with a clinical left-footed finish to round off an excellent individual display. He also provided an assist later on in what was, without doubt, a man-of-the-match performance by the Nigerian international.
After just three Bundesliga appearances, the former Union Saint-Gilloise forward now has an impressive six-goal contribution for Leverkusen. His stunning early form has earned Boniface his first Nigeria call-up for their upcoming AFCON qualifier.
