Buhari Wins Akpabio’s Polling Unit By Wide Margin; Amongst Other Victories

BEVERLY HILLS, February 24, (THEWILL) – President Muhammadu Buhari, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has won in the polling unit of Sen. Godswill Akpabio in Akwa Ibom.

Akpabio, a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governor of Akwa Ibom and former senate Minority Leader, defected to the APC and is currently the APC senatorial candidate for Akwa Ibom North West.

Buhari got 1553 votes to beat his PDP opponent, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who polled 11 votes in Ukana West 2, unit 9, Essien Udim Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom, Akpabio’s unit.

In the senatorial election result, Akpabio won in the unit with 1533 votes while the PDP senatorial candidate, Chris Ekpenyong got 4 votes.

Speaking after the declaration of the result, Akpabio commended INEC and security agencies for conducting a peaceful election in the state.

Atiku also suffered a loss at the polling unit of Jimi Agbaje, governorship candidate of the PDP, on Saturday.

President Muhammadu Buhari won at unit 004, ward A, Hindra road, Apapa GRA, where Agbaje cast his ballot.

While Buhari got 84 votes, Atiku got 80, the same margin with which Atiku won Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s polling unit in Ikoyi.

In the Apapa polling unit of Agbaje, APC also won the senate race with 88 votes, while PDP got 80. However, PDP won the house of representatives race at the unit with 84 votes, to APC’s 74.

Buhari also won in the polling booth of the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazzau.

Results of the 066 Race Cross primary polling unit where Dambazzau voted showed that Buhari polled 180 votes to defeat Atiku, who polled 41.

In the Senate election, APC polled 136 against the PDP candidate’s 68 votes.

For the House of Representatives, APC polled 123 votes to defeat the PDP contestant, who polled 61.

A similar feat was recorded at Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau’s 025 Giginyu primary polling unit, Giginyu ward, where Buhari polled 217 votes to defeat Atiku, who polled 27 votes.

The two-time governor of Kano State, who is contesting the Kano central senatorial district election, polled 188 to defeat Ali Madakin-Gini of the PDP, who polled 84 votes.

Buhari then defeated Atiku at the Benue State Government House polling unit, Makurdi as he polled 125 to narrowly defeat Abubakar who scored 124. The state governor, Mr Samuel Ortom, is currently a member of the PDP having defected from the APC.

Buhari also defeated Atiku at polling unit 011, Ndabagi, Bank North, where the state APC governorship candidate, Mr Emmanuel Jime voted. Buhari polled 166 votes to defeat Atiku who got 17 votes at the centre.

He also won Atiku at Wanune Township voting unit 009 where a former state governor, Senator George Akume voted. Buhari polled 304 while Atiku got 102. Akume who is also the APC senatorial candidate polled 324 while his PDP opponent got 88 votes.
