PRESIDENT BUHARI APPOINTS ACTING EFCC CHAIRMAN
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Mr. Ibrahim Mustafa Magu as the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Mr. Magu, who is an Assistant Commissioner of Police is to take over from Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde who is proceeding on terminal leave ahead of the formal expiration of his tenure in February next year.

SAN FRANCISCO, November 09, (THEWILL) – President Muhammadu Buhari has fired Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Larmorde, who was at the presidential villa on Monday evening, was directed to handover to Mr. Ibrahim Magu, a senior investigative officer at the commission, according to a presidency source. Magu is expected to act as acting head of the agency.
No reason was given for his removal.
Lamorde was appointed in 2011 by former President Goodluck Jonathan. he succeeded former Chairman, Mrs. Farida Waziri.
Allegations of misappropriating EFCC funds had dogged Lamorde, prompting a Senate investigation.
A petitioner had alleged that he diverted at least N1 trillion recovered from the former Bayelsa governor, Mr. Diepreye Alamieyeseigha and other politicians.
Mr. Wilson Uwajaren, EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, said that Lamorde had requested to appear before the Senate committee investigating the allegations at an appropriate date. As at the time of writing this report he was yet to appear before the senate committee.
