Buhari Departs New York For Abuja

September 25, (THEWILL) – President Muhammadu Buhari has departed New York for Abuja, after participating at the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in the United States.

Buhari left New York on Saturday, a day after he delivered his address to the world body.

The president is expected to arrive in Nigeria on Monday.

News about his departure was broken by his photographer, Sunday Aghaeze.

President Buhari had in his address asked world leaders and the international community to reject all forms of unconstitutional takeover of power.

Buhari, who condemned recent military incursion into politics in West African countries, also warned that the democratic gains of the past decades in the region ‘‘are now being eroded’’ due to these negative trends.

The president affirmed Nigeria’s support for efforts by ECOWAS, the AU and the UN to address this growing challenge
