November 01, (THEWILL) – With only two wins from the first seven games of the new season, the Brooklyn Nets have sacked head coach, Steve Nash.

In a statement, Brooklyn General Manager, Sean Marks, said: “Since becoming head coach, Steve was faced with a number of unprecedented challenges, and we are sincerely grateful for his leadership, patience and humility throughout his tenure.”

In a statement, Nash appreciated the Nets for the “amazing experience”, “It was a pleasure to work with the players, performance team and front office every day. I’m especially grateful to my coaching staff and video room who are a talented group with so much character and professionalism.”

In this debut experience in Nash’s coaching career, the Hall of Fame point guard finishes with a 94-win, 67-loss record. In 2021, he shepherded them to reach the Eastern Conference playoffs.

The Nets’ poor 2-win, 5-loss record did not help Nash and if recent history is any indication, the chances of a coach with more coaching experience than Nash producing different outcomes are small, but the Nets are willing to give it a shot.
