December 13, (THEWILL) – Armando Broja’s injured anterior cruciate ligament will require surgery, which will blow Chelsea harshly.

The midseason friendly between the Blues and Aston Villa ended in a 1-0 loss for the London side, the Albanian international was stretchered off after getting his boot stuck in the ground and injuring his knee.

Chelsea’s worst worries came true on Tuesday when it was determined that Broja had torn his ACL and that surgery would be necessary to repair the damage.

He will likely miss the remainder of this season but is hopeful to be fit to play again in time for the 2023/2024 season.
