Brighton Turn Down Improved Chelsea Offer For Caicedo

July 27, (THEWILL) – Brighton and Hove Albion has rejected an improved offer from Chelsea for midfielder, Moises Caicedo.

The initial bid of £70 million from Chelsea had been rebuffed earlier this month, and despite an increase to £80 million, the outcome remains unchanged. According to insiders, the offer was swiftly dismissed, with the Seagulls showing no intention of wavering from their £100 million valuation of the Ecuadorian midfielder.

Caicedo, who recently signed a contract extension with Brighton after a failed transfer attempt to Arsenal in January, is in favour of a potential move. However, he understands that the club will not entertain any offers below their stated valuation.

“I’m happy if Moises stays and plays with us. We will play anyway without him. We have to be ready to find another midfielder if Caicedo leaves,” Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi said while the team is on a pre-season tour in America. De Zerbi also admitted that club owner Tony Bloom assured him that Caicedo would not be sold unless their demands were fully met, saying, “I spoke with Tony Bloom, and he told me if the conditions don’t change, Moises stays with us.”

Chelsea, who consider Caicedo their top transfer target this summer, is expected to make another improved bid in their relentless pursuit of the 21-year-old midfielder. However, for now, Caicedo remains an essential part of Brighton’s squad under De Zerbi’s management.
