August 31, (THEWILL) – Brentford striker, Ivan Toney, has completed a £35 million move to Saudi Pro League club, Al Ahli. The transfer was finalised just after the English transfer window closed on Friday night.
Toney, who had entered the final year of his contract with Brentford, had been seeking a move away from the club. Despite interest from English Premier League sides, Chelsea and Manchester United, neither team met Brentford’s valuation of the player.
Brentford’s head coach, Thomas Frank, praised Toney’s contributions to the club over the past four years. Frank highlighted Toney’s impressive goal-scoring record of more than one goal every two games and commended his leadership on the pitch.
The move marks the end of Toney’s successful stint at Brentford, where he played a key role in the team’s rise to the EPL. Frank described Toney’s departure as the conclusion of a “wonderful journey” and wished him well in his new venture.
Toney’s transfer to Al Ahli represents a significant move in his career, taking him from the EPL to the rapidly growing Saudi Pro League. The striker will now face new challenges as he adapts to football in the Middle East.
