March 07, (THEWILL) – Brentford stretched their unbeaten streak to 12 English Premier League matches by defeating local rivals Fulham at their Gtech Community Stadium.
After an incredibly fast start, Brentford’s Ethan Pinnock scored the first goal of the game, deflecting the ball off Tim Ream, who was unable to stop the shot. Fulham continued to press and found a leveller through Manor Solomon before half-time.
The score tie did not last because Brentford were awarded a penalty soon after the break, which Ivan Toney promptly converted. Five minutes before regulation time, Kevin Schade set up Mathias Jensen at the near post for Brentford’s third goal. Although Vinicius scored late in the game, it was not enough for Fulham
The victory means Brentford now has two games in hand and is just two points behind Fulham in seventh place. The win sets them on track for their dream of finishing in the top four, even though they are seven points behind Tottenham Hotspur.
Brentford will be facing Everton next, while Fulham will take on league leaders and neighbours Arsenal at Craven Cottage in London.
