July 15, (THEWILL) – The House of Representatives is currently in a closed-door session after commotion ensued over the 3 percent allocation earmarked for host communities in the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB).
Members of the House from the South-South opposed the harmonised PIB allocation to host communities pegged at 3 per cent.
On the floor of the House on Thursday, the lawmakers were heard chanting “5 percent” as against the 3 percent stipulated in the Bill.
The chants continued even as the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, walked in to commence plenary.
Shortly after, the House went into an executive session.
