June 4, (THEWILL) – The Joint National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), have suspended the nationwide indefinite strike for one week to give room for uninterrupted meeting with the tripartite committee on the new national minimum wage.
The strike was suspended, following the intervention of the Federal Government, through a meeting convened by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume.
However, discussions on the labour demands would continue at the Tripartite Committee meeting scheduled to hold daily for one week.
President Bola Tinubu had assured the workers on Monday, that he is committed to ensure a minimum wage higher than N60,000 earlier proposed.
