September 22, (THEWILL) – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has adjourned the collation of results of the Edo state gubernatorial election until 5 pm, Sunday, September 22.
The Returning Officer for the election, and Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State Professor Farouk Kuta, announced the adjournment after results in sixteen of the eighteen LGAs in Edo State were announced on Sunday afternoon.
THEWILL reports that the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Monday Okpebholo has taken the lead in ten of the 16 local government election results so far declared by the commission. The PDP had won in six local governments.
While the results of two local governments, Ikpoba-Okha and Oredo are being awaited, the APC candidate polled 244,549, to lead his closest rival, Asue Ighodalo of the PDP, who scored 195,954.
The Labour Party candidate, Barr. Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata is in a distant third position with 13,348
