BREAKING: Arsenal Completes Signing Of Aubameyang

BEVERLY HILLS, January 31, (THEWILL) – Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has completed his move to Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund on a long-term contract for a club-record fee, the Premier League side have announced.

The club completed the deal on transfer deadline day after getting the green light from Borussia Dortmund to announce the deal, with the striker joining for £56m.

Aubameyang has arrived in the UK as the 28-year-old was videoed arriving at Dortmund Airport with his family.

He becomes Arsenal’s most expensive signing, overtaking the £52.5m purchase of Alexandre Lacazette last summer as negotiations between Arsenal and Dortmund continued for several weeks.

The forward has scored 13 top-flight goals this season for the German side as the Gunners have put Tuesday’s 3-1 defeat by Swansea behind them by announcing a new club-record deal on wednesday with Olivier Giroud now expected to leave the club.

Giroud looks certain to leave Arsenal for Chelsea after Blues agreed an £18m deal with the Gunners to keep him the Premier League in a bid to secure regular playing time ahead of the 2018 World Cup.

His preference has always been to stay in London due to family reasons and rejected a move to Dortmund.

It was rumoured that Chelsea’s David Luiz would be making a switch to Arsenal in the deal with the Gunners over Giroud, however, this has not been confirmed.

Meanwhile, Dortmund are set to sign Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi on loan until the end of the season, with the Belgian striker in Dortmund undergoing a medical.
