June 28, (THEWILL) – In a remarkable act of devotion, an anonymous Brazilian fan has decided to leave his entire estate to professional footballer, Neymar Jr.
The fan expressed his admiration for the national team and Brazil’s football heritage, noting that he deeply identified with Neymar’s journey, which led him to officially include the striker in his will. Speaking to local media outlet Metropoles, the fan explained: “I like Neymar, I identify with him a lot. I also suffer from defamation, value family bonds, and see similarities between his relationship with his father and mine, who has passed away.”
Concerned about his health and lacking close family connections, the fan wanted to ensure his belongings didn’t end up with the government or estranged relatives. The anonymous benefactor had previously attempted to transfer his assets to the Brazilian international, albeit without success. However, the decision to include Neymar as the sole beneficiary in his will provided a legally binding avenue to fulfill his desire. The document was duly signed by a notary’s office in Porto Alegre, essentially formalising the arrangement.
Neymar, who currently plays for Paris St Germain, is widely regarded as one of the highest-earning athletes globally, with Forbes estimating his earnings for 2023 at $85 million. The 31-year-old has been generous with significant portions of the income at home, in Brazil, and abroad. The fan acknowledged Neymar’s reputed generosity, stating: “I know that, above all, he is not greedy, something a bit rare these days.”
