Borno Govt To Erect Third Flyover Worth N7.9bn

March 12, (THEWILL)- The Borno State Government, on Monday, signed a contract of over N7.9 billion for the construction of a flyover, to ease the movement of motorists and citizenry faced within Maiduguri, the State Capital.

The State Ministry of Works and Housing, Engr Mustapha Gubio, while signing the contract on behalf of the Borno State Government, with ECC 18 engineering company, for the construction of a flyover at West End Round in Maiduguri on Monday.

Engr Mustapha Gubio said the project is the third flyover to be constructed by the Zulum-led administration and is expected to be completed in 12 months.

He noted it follows all due processes of E.Procurement Process for the award of contract, EEC considering their previous record of achievements have been found suitable and selected for the contract.

He appealed to the contractor to ensure quality work and adhere strictly to the specifications of the project, as well as complete the project within the stipulated 12-month completion period.

He confirmed that a down payment of 40 percent mobilisation fee has already been paid to the contractor, with a proposed additional 10 percent payment very soon, to make it 50 percent and with this arrangement, the Commissioner said much is expected from the contractor in terms of quality and speed work.

Engr Mustapha Gubio said the Borno State government have spent a lot of money on the construction of Roads and drainages and intends to do more to develop the state in line with the 25-year development plan.

The representative of EEC Construction Company, Mr Gao Kun, promised to justify the confidence reposed in them and execute the project according to the specifications.

The Acting Permanent Secretary Ministry of Works and Housing, Engr Abubakar Aliyu Baware, said the award of the contract has followed all the due processes and after serious scrutiny of all the companies who applied for the contract, EEC has been found qualified.

He said EEC has done a lot of construction work in the state and has been creditably doing well, therefore, expressed hope that this one would not be different.

The representative of the Bureau of Public Procurement, Alhaji Babakura Bukar, said the Ministry of Works is leading in observing and complying with BPP rules and regulations for the award of contract, stressing that all the processes for the award of this contract are followed.
