Boko Haram: Buratai Reveals What He Relied On To Lead Nigerian Army Into Victory

BEVERLY HILLS, April 22, (THEWILL) – The Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, says he led the Nigerian Army to defeat Boko Haram terrorists partly relying on lessons learnt from the Bangladesh National Defence where he undertook a course in 2008.

The Army Chief made this disclosure on Saturday when he received the Bangladesh Army Chief of Staff, Gen. Abu Shafiul Huq in Lagos.

He pointed out that the lessons were partly responsible for the success being recorded in the fight against the Boko Haram terrorists.

“The Bangladesh experience in counter-insurgency is something that I brought to bear in the efforts to rid Nigeria of Boko Haram since my appointment as the Chief of army staff,” he said.

Buratai went on to enjoin military forces around the world to accord more seriousness to the issue of insurgency and terrorism because they were difficult battles to overcome.
