SAN FRANCISCO, October 28, (THEWILL) – The Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, Gen. Abayomi Olonishakin has declared that the Boko Haram insurgency had been, “totally degraded, decimated and 100 per cent defeated”, adding that it is inconsequential whether the supposed leader of the sect, Abubakar Shekau has been killed or not.
The Defence Chief, who was represented by the acting Director, Defence Information, Brig. Gen. Rabe Abubakar, made this assertion at a media parley with journalists at the Federal Radio Corporation, FRCN, Kaduna.
Olonishakin however cautioned members of the press on their reportage of stories that could inflame conflict.
“Today, I am pleased to inform you that we have defeated Boko Haram. It is not an easy feat. Yes, you may hear that an inaccessible village has been attacked or that there was an attack somewhere. But, that is the last kicking of a dying group,” he said.
