June 3, (THEWILL)- Simone Biles solidified her status as the greatest gymnast of all time, capturing her ninth national all-around title and sweeping every individual event at the 2024 US Gymnastics Championships in Fort Worth, Texas.
The 27-year-old’s dominant performance marked another milestone in her illustrious career, as she rewrote the record books.
Biles posted a remarkable total score of 119.750 over two nights of competition, outclassing the field despite a rare fall on her Yurchenko double pike vault. Even with the fall, she still managed a 15.000 score due to the vault’s immense difficulty. Biles began with a solid 14.800 on the balance beam and followed with a 15.100 on the floor exercise, demonstrating her unparalleled tumbling skills.
On the uneven bars, Biles effortlessly navigated through her routine, scoring a 14.400 and cementing her position atop the all-around standings. Her consistency and skill level remain unmatched, as she prepares for the upcoming Olympic Trials and the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Amidst her historic night, Biles found time to support fellow Olympic all-around champion Suni Lee, who struggled with a fall on the vault. Biles’ guidance and encouragement helped Lee regain her composure and Lee credited Biles’ mentorship as a significant factor in her recovery.
With her ninth national all-around title, Biles continues to redefine the boundaries of gymnastics excellence. Her unwavering determination and unrivalled talent have made her a true icon of the sport.
