June 20, (THEWILL) – Mercy Queen Atang, Big Brother Naija reality show star, has stated that the reality show got her more recognition and visibility, though it came with pressure.
In an interview with Sunday Scoop, she said, “BBN has definitely changed my life positively. I now have more recognition and visibility. However, there is a lot more pressure, as well as expectations that one has to meet. However, it has been awesome.”
Speaking on how she handles cyber bullies, “Trolls are always expected. Even if one tries to be perfect, there will be people that will still criticise one. I always had my mind prepared for things like that. Maturity demands that I should not respond to every word thrown at me or react in any way that could eventually make things worse.”
She also admitted that it has not been easy being under the spotlight.
“It’s not really easy being in the limelight, because there are a lot of expectations of one. I have tried as much as possible to avoid being pressured. I just do what I can in a healthy space to avoid loopholes and maintain my stability.
“If one dances to the tune of pressure, the person would definitely lose focus and at many points would keep trying to find his or her bearing.”
