October 18, (THEWILL) – US President, Joe Biden, has announced a $100 million humanitarian assistance to Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.

The assistance will be provided through “trusted partners” including UN agencies and international NGOs, a statement from the White House said.

The funding will help support more than one million people with clean water, food, hygiene support, medical care and other essential needs.

“I just announced $100 million for humanitarian assistance in Gaza and the West Bank. This money will support over 1 million displaced and conflict-affected Palestinians. And we will have mechanisms in place so this aid reaches those in need – not Hamas or terrorist groups.

“Let me be clear, if Hamas diverts or steals the assistance, they will have demonstrated once again that they have no concern for the welfare of the Palestinian people, and it will end. As a practical matter, it will stop the international community from being able to provide this aid”, he wrote on Wednesday, in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

THEWILL reports that the aid is coming after a deadly blast rocked the Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in central Gaza on Tuesday night, killing at least hundreds of people.

Speaking on the incident earlier on Wednesday, when he met with Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, in Tel Aviv, Biden said, “The point is that I was deeply saddened and outraged by the explosion of the hospital in Gaza yesterday, and based on what I’ve seen, it appears as though it was done by the other team, not you, but there’s a lot of people out there not sure, so we’ve got a lot—we’ve got to overcome a lot of things.”

Biden’s trip was originally supposed to include a visit to Jordan to meet with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, Majesty King Abdullah II, and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to discuss humanitarian aid to Gaza.

The trip was cancelled, however, after the blast at the hospital in Gaza.
