April 18, (THEWILL) – The Benue State Government has disclosed plans to host an International Investment Summit In November 2024, aimed at harnessing the business potential of the state.
The Special Adviser to the Benue State Governor on International Investment, Hon. Alex Addingi, who made the disclosure in an interface with journalists in Makurdi, said the summit would give birth to what he referred to as an ‘Economic City’ in the future.
According to him, the recent Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) the Benue State Government signed with a Chinese company will culminate in upgrading medical facilities at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital and training of medical personnel.
“There will be high technology medical equipment to Benue State University Teaching Hospital by the Chinese company that will serve the Benue community, Abuja and other nearby residents,” he said.
The Special Adviser further disclosed that over fifty companies would be involved in the proposed Benue Economic City.
Responding to a question, Honourable Addingi explained that machinery, expertise, and raw materials are already available in the state for takeoff, adding that “the MOU is a Private-Public Partnership (PPP) arrangement which is a win-win situation for both parties.”
He said there would be production of electric vehicles for export to Europe, adding that the state would also be exporting power to other states of the Federation.
The Special Adviser, therefore, commended Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration for uplifting the status of the state within a year in office and sued for cooperation for a better Benue.
