February 04, (THEWILL) – Bendel Insurance FC head coach, Monday Odigie and striker Imade Osarenkhoe, were honoured with two top individual awards in the opening month of the 2022/2023 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Osarenkhoe, a former Lobi Stars loanee, won the League Bloggers’ award for Player of the Month of January after a remarkable goal-scoring performance. He scored four goals in Bendel Insurance’s four games in January, as they notched wins over Akwa United, Plateau United, Kwara United, and Remo Stars.
The 22-year-old striker currently shares the top scorer chart with Plateau United’s Emmanuel Onyebuchi, both with four goals after five matches. Onyebuchi won the best player award, while his head coach, Monday Odigie, was recognised as the best coach of the opening month.
Odigie has led Bendel Insurance to a solid unit, with the best attack (nine goals scored) and the best defense (one goal conceded) in the division. In contrast to his last stint with the Benin Arsenal in 2019, Odigie is now guiding the newly-promoted club to be one of the title favorites.
The Benin Arsenal started February with an impressive away win at El Kanemi Warriors, taking their tally to five wins in five games. The veteran tactician is enjoying a different experience this season, as he aims to lead Bendel Insurance to NPFL glory.
