February 01, (THEWILL) – Sporting CP has announced the signing of Hector Bellerin from Barcelona on a permanent deal.
Bellerin started his football career in Barcelona’s youth ranks before moving to Arsenal in 2011. He became a first-team regular for the London side before falling out of favour and returning to Barcelona on a free transfer in September.
Despite making just seven appearances for Barcelona, Bellerin has now left the Spanish giants for a second time to join Sporting CP. There, the 27-year-old full-back will be hoping to help his new side in the Europa League. With the club set to face Midtjylland in the knockout round in February, Bellerin’s arrival comes at an exciting time for Sporting CP.
Bellerin’s move to the Portuguese side also coincides with the departure of fellow attack-minded right-back Pedro Porro, who has signed for Tottenham. Bellerin will be hoping to bring his experience and success from his time in the Premier League to Sporting CP.
With his attacking style of play, the 27-year-old will be an exciting addition to the Primeira Liga side. Bellerin will be eager to make a positive impact and help his new team achieve success on the pitch.
