February 13, (THEWILL) – With only three new COVID-19 cases reported on Saturday during the Winter Olympics, Beijing 2022 has registered the lowest number of new COVID-19 cases since the start of the Games on February 4.

In tests conducted on Saturday at Beijing Capital International Airport, two positive cases were reported. This came after 136 Olympic-related arrivals were screened. Athletes and team officials were involved in one case, while another Games stakeholder was involved in the other. There was another case with an unconfirmed identity.

On Saturday, the closed loop technology, which separates Games participants from the general public, was used to conduct another 69,558 tests. Of that number, 6,240 athletes were tested for polymerase chain reaction, with the remaining 63,318 coming from other Games stakeholders.

So far, 1,314,272 tests have been conducted over the Games season, according to Beijing 2022.
