October 08, (THEWILL) – Kingsley Coman scored twice as Bayern Munich breezed to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Freiburg on Sunday evening.
Yet, Leroy Sane was the star of the show, scoring one and creating another in a match that was far more one-sided than the scoreline suggests. Freiburg failed to muster a single shot on target as Bayern dominated from start to finish.
Coman opened the scoring with a freak cross that looped over the keeper and in off the post in the 12th minute. It was Coman’s first goal in four months. Freiburg have never won away to Bayern, but knocked them out of the DFB-Pokal on their last visit thanks to their hard work, good luck and a stubborn defensive display.
This time Sane proved too hot for them to handle. He danced through the defence after receiving an assist from Harry Kane to knock home the second goal. Sane then embarrassed youngster Merlin Rohl before firing into the top corner, only for VAR to rule it out for offside.
With the game won, Coman added a late third thanks to a deflected effort. Boss Thomas Tuchel felt so at ease he took off Harry Kane and experimented with a new shape, replacing Dayot Upamecano with Konrad Laimer. Bayern remain third in the Bundesliga table behind Bayer Leverkusen and surprise package Stuttgart. It was a gentle workout ahead of a two-week international break.
