February 26, (THEWILL) – The highly-anticipated meeting between Bayern Munich and Union Berlin took place on Matchday 22 of the Bundesliga.
Union Berlin came into the game with momentum after a Europa League victory over Ajax, but it was Bayern Munich who dominated from start to finish. Bayern’s Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Kingsley Coman, and Jamal Musiala all found the back of the net in a 3-0 victory.
Bayern Munich started the game on the front foot, controlling possession and creating several chances. Robin Knoche was a solid wall for Union Berlin for the opening half hour, but a 31st-minute header from Choupo-Moting broke the deadlock. Coman then doubled Bayern’s lead with a well-taken goal, before Müller assisted Musiala to put the game beyond reach.
Union Berlin tried to mount a comeback in the second half, but Bayern’s defense held strong to keep their clean sheet, maximum points and draw level on 46 points with Borussia Dortmund at the top of the Bundesliga standings with Union Berlin trailing in third on 43 points.
The victory also showcased Bayern’s strength in depth, with new signings and established stars alike making significant contributions. Bayern will next face Stuttgart on Saturday, while Union Berlin will take on Cologne.
