February 08, (THEWILL) – Bayern Munich has made a major shake-up in its coaching staff with the appointment of Michael Rechner, as the new goalkeeping coach.
The move comes after the controversial dismissal of Toni Tapalovic, who had been with the club for a considerable time. The decision to dismiss Tapalovic was made after it was reported that he had a difficult relationship with the head coach, Julian Nagelsmann.
However, Tapalovic had a close relationship with club captain, Manuel Neuer, who he had worked with for over a decade. Neuer was reportedly angry over Tapalovic’s departure, and he expressed his frustration in a recent interview.
The statement from Neuer was met with criticism from several senior officials at Bayern Munich, but the club has now identified Rechner as the perfect replacement. Rechner had previously worked as the first-team goalkeeping coach for Hoffenheim, and he will now work with Yann Sommer who was recently signed by the club following Neuer’s injury.
