SAN FRANCISCO, December 07, (THEWILL) – The Independent National Electoral (INEC) has cancelled the result for Southern Ijaw local government area following allegations of irregularities and declared the governorship election in Bayelsa State inconclusive.
INEC had earlier announced results from seven of the eight local government areas in the state with the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and incumbent governor, Mr. Seriake Dickson, leading his closest rival, Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with 33, 151 votes at 105, 748 to 72, 594 votes.
A new date for the election in Southern Ijaw would be announced by INEC.
