Bayelsa Guber: Labour Party Governorship Candidate Unveils PEAP Agenda

August 07, (THEWILL) – Ahead of the November 11th, 2023 Governorship election in Bayelsa state, the Labour party Governorship candidate, Engr.Udengs Eradiri has said his government is determined and have resolved with the training and experience to rewrite the chequered history of Bayelsa state which has been plagued with leadership problem and he is poised to return the state to it’s pride of place ,where it can boldly answered it’s appellation as the glory of all lands, and in doing so the party has come up with a four point agenda , christened with acronym for People education agricultural power (PEAP AGENDA).

He state this at a briefing with the Federated Correspondent Chapel, FCC of the Nigerian Union of Journalists in Yenagoa.He was flanked by his deputy governor , Commodore Benjamin Nathus ( rtd) and other party members during the briefing.

According to Engr.Udengs Eradiri, a former commissioner for Youth development and Environment in Bayelsa state, stating that with the people , his government will focus on engagement and participation of the people in governance in healthcare, sports and recreation, housing development, new cities, water and sanitation amongst others .

While on education, his government introduced digital education, skill aquisition, ICT,youth capacity building and Wealth creation, free quality and functional primary and secondary education as well as a total turn-around of the educational system in the state.

While on Agriculture, his government will provide an enhanced agriculture and food production, cultivation of cash crops and food crops, sugar cane production and revival of all agricultural establishments and farms like the Bayelsaoil palm in Elebele, the cassava processing facility at Ebedbiri, the 45,000 birds poultry farm at Ebedbiri as well as the one thousand and five hundred fish ponds and processing facility at Yenegue.

He also disclosed that power will be given priority attention under his government and ensure that there will be deliberate and intentional efforts to industrialize the state and invest heavily and strategically in electricity within the confines of the law.

Hence , he would take advantage of the enormous availability of gas resources , water resources and renewables to provide , clean , safe and uninterrupted power supply in Bayelsa state, as well as procurement of gas turbines for the three Senatorial Districts for uninterrupted power supply.

The Governorship hopeful, a former Secretary – General of Ijaw youth council and former President of IYC, hinted that revival of the following moribund state owned companies will take centre stage to create employment for the citizenry.

These industries which have been in comatose are, Bayelsa construction company, Bayelsa plastic company, Bayelsa Palm, Bayelsa Fisheries , Bayelsa oil company , Bayelsa paint manufacturing company and Bayelsa state Transport company.

He boasted that under him as a youth leader he halted the importation of Pure water and bread form neighbouring Delta state, but today pure water factories and bakeries have sprang up in the state and provided employment opportunities and increase internally generated revenue ( IGR) for the state and was prepared to replicate the feat when given the mantle of leadership of the state as a governor.

He listed other ailing companies begging for revamping to include the Bayelsa Dredging company , Bayelsa printing press, Bayelsa Drug Distribution Company and the 1,500 fish ponds at Igbogene and 1000 fish ponds at Ayama in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.
