Bayelsa Families Escape Death as Telecommunication Mast Falls

June 18, (THEWILL) – Some families in Nange-Ama community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State escaped death by the whiskers, following the collapse of a telecommunication mast.

The Telecommunication Mast, which is reportedly owned by a first generation mobile telecommunication company, Airtel, fell and destroyed properties worth millions of naira, including a residential building, a six -bedroom bungalow owned by one Mrs Eva Efere, who was inside the house alongside three others. But no life was lost in the incident.

While confirming the incident to journalists in Yenagoa, Efere expressed shock and disbelief at the incident.

“I lost touch with reality for about a minute before I regained consciousness. I thought a bomb had been detonated,” she said.

Other properties destroyed include the Nange-Ama community high tension cables, a farmland and an uncompleted duplex.
