April 17, (THEWILL) – Barcelona have downplayed concerns over Ronald Araujo’s contract situation at the club, despite interest from several top European sides.
Araujo, who signed a new long-term contract last year, has been unable to be registered with La Liga due to the club’s financial issues. His previous deal was set to expire in 2023 before he signed a new four-year contract last summer.
Araujo’s representatives have received numerous enquiries from clubs interested in his services, including Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Inter, Juventus, and Borussia Dortmund. However, Barcelona have remained adamant that the Uruguayan international is not and will not be available.
The frustrations surrounding the contract situation aside, Barcelona sources have expressed confidence that both Araujo and Gavi will remain at the club next season. “We are not worried,” they said. “The contract for Araujo will not be an issue in the long-term. We are convinced he will finish his career with Barca.”
