February 06, (THEWILL) – Barcelona strengthened their position at the top of the La Liga table with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Sevilla at Camp Nou.
The win extended Barcelona’s lead to eight points and put them in a strong position as title contenders. The match started with Barcelona dictating the pace of the game, but they had to wait until the 58th minute to open the scoring. Jordi Alba scored the first goal with a well-placed side-foot shot into the bottom corner of the net.
Gavi added the second goal in the 70th minute with a close-range tap-in after Raphinha’s fantastic play down the right flank. Raphinha then scored the third goal for the hosts, side-footing the ball into the net after being found by Alba’s low cross from the left flank.
The victory was a crucial one for Barcelona, especially after Real Madrid’s defeat to Mallorca. It gives them a solid lead at the top of the league and puts them in a strong position for the title. The loss for Sevilla sees them drop to 16th, just two points away from the relegation zone.
