November 05, (THEWILL) – The FC Barcelona women’s team produced another dominant performance on Sunday, demolishing Sevilla 8-0. A hat-trick of assists from Caroline Graham Hansen and a poker of goals from Salma Paralluelo in the first half set the tone for the rout.
Paralluelo headed home the opener after just seven minutes before adding three more goals in quick succession. Her clinical finishing on the day took her tally to four goals by the 39th minute. Despite the one-sided scoreline, Barça continued pushing for more after the break.
Mariona Caldentey took over the goalscoring with two strikes early in the second half. The first a thunderous long-range effort before she smashed in a second just minutes later. Alexia Putellas set up Caroline Graham Hansen for the seventh on 57 minutes before Marta Torrejón came off the bench to notch number eight in injury time on her 400th Barça appearance.
The emphatic win sees Barça strengthen their lead at the top of the Liga F table as they continue their bid to defend the league title. Manager Jonatan Giraldez will be delighted with his team’s ruthless performance that underlines their credentials as the best women’s side in Europe.
Sevilla had no answer to Barça’s attacking flair and intensity. The defeat leaves them struggling in the bottom half of the table, in 12th place, after a difficult start to the new season.
