Barca Draw Celta Vigo 3-3

November 06, (THEWILL) – Barcelona’s new coach, Xavi, got a taste of his new job as the Catalan giants lost a 3-goal lead to draw 3-3 with Celta Vigo.

Iago Aspas scored his second goal of the game in the sixth minute of injury time, an unstoppable 20-yard curling first-time attempt that beat Marc-Andre Ter Stegen’s outstretched arm and nestled inside the far post.

Ansu Fati had earlier scored a goal that will undoubtedly become a signature goal, sprinting down the left flank before cutting inside a defender and shooting inside the far post. Unfortunately, he appeared to hurt his hamstring just before halftime and did not return after the break.

Sergio Busquets increased the advantage with a rare goal from the outskirts of the box, and Memphis Depay headed home Jordi Alba’s cross 10 minutes before the break to seemingly put the game out of reach.

Celta, who had chances in the first half, came out firing in the second, with Aspas bundling home after 52 minutes and a spectacular Nolito diving header providing optimism 16 minutes from time, but a point remained elusive until the superb late, late equaliser.

Barcelona’s search for an away win in the league continues, with the draw keeping them in ninth place. In two weeks, they will play Espanyol, with Xavi taking charge for the first time.

Celta are now in 14th place, and their next match is against Villarreal.
