September 14, (THEWILL) – Barcelona has announced that they and midfielder, Gavi, have come to terms on a new, multi-year contract.
Under manager Xavi, the 18-year-old has made a name for himself in the starting lineup and started with another young phenom, Pedri, in Tuesday’s 2-0 loss against Bayern Munich.
According to a statement from Barca: “FC Barcelona and the player, Pablo Páez Gavira, ‘Gavi’, have reached an agreement to extend his contract to 30 June, 2026. The buy-out clause is set at €1bn.”

On Thursday, Gavi will formally sign his new contract in a public ceremony at Camp Nou before he and president, Joan Laporta, address the crowd. He made his Barca debut in 2021 and most recently reached 50 games in all competitions. He also debuted for Spain in the same year, and in June, against the Czech Republic, he scored to become the senior team’s youngest-ever scorer.
Having signed new contracts over the past year, Gavi alongside Ansu Fati and Pedri represents the majority of Barca’s young players who are now under contract.
