June 25, (THEWILL) – Gareth Bale has agreed to join Los Angeles FC of Major League Soccer (MLS) as a free agent with the expiration of his contract with La Liga giants Real Madrid.
In the months leading up to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar later this year, the Welshman, who left Real Madrid earlier this summer, has drawn interest from all over the world. The fact remains that Bale is eager to find a new team and resume regular football.
Cardiff City previously discussed a move back to Wales with the 32-year-old, but Bale has decided to go to the States and join LAFC in the MLS. It gives him the option of signing a 12-month deal with an additional 18-month extension through the completion of the 2024 MLS season.
He will join Italian centre back Giorgio Chiellini, who also signed to play for LAFC on a free transfer after his 17-year relationship with Juventus came to an end in June. On July 7, when the Secondary Transfer Window begins, Chiellini’s transfer will made official, and it is anticipated that Bale’s will follow suit.
Then, on July 8, when LAFC takes on LA Galaxy, both players would be able to make their LAFC debuts and draw more attention to the MLS.
