March 22, (THEWILL) – Chelsea forward, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s appearance at Barcelona’s El Clasico has raised questions over his future at Stamford Bridge.
The ex-Gabonese striker has made it known that he desires a return to Barcelona and could even take a pay cut to make it happen. This is fuelled by the fact that Aubameyang has fallen out of favour with Chelsea and has only made a seven-minute appearance in the Premier League since January.
There are reports that the Blues are ready to cancel his contract this summer even if nothing can be substantiated at the moment as there is no official word on the matter from Stamford Bridge. The only indication that he was not factored into the current system came when he was omitted from their UEFA Champions League squad.
Although Aubameyang has not been in direct contact with Barcelona President, Joan Laporta, he has been expressing his desire to return to the Catalan side where he spent seven successful months, scoring 13 goals in 24 games in all competitions.
Unfortunately, he returned to the EPL with Chelsea to rejoin his coach at Dortmund, Thomas Tuchel, just before the German was fired by new owner, Todd Boehly.
