Atletico, Leverkusen Drop Out Of UCL After 2-2 Draw

October 27, (THEWILL) – Atletico Madrid was eliminated from the UEFA Champions League after a 2-2 draw with Bayer Leverkusen, who were also eliminated when Yannick Carrasco, missed a last-second penalty.

Diego Simeone’s team twice rallied from deficits as Moussa Diaby and Callum Hudson-Odoi’s efforts were neutralised by Carrasco and Rodrigo de Paul. The victory was required to keep any hopes of moving on from Group B alive but they could only manage a tie.

At the Wanda Metropolitano, there was late drama after Clement Turpin, initially blew the final whistle before VAR penalised Piero Hincapie, for handball in the box.
